Traditional fishing with nets
Join
us and keep up old acquired rights to traditional fishing with nets in the
scenic lake Sølen in Rendalen - Hedmark.
The rich Lake Sølen lies by the foot of the majestic Mount Sølentoppen. This lake has been the main economic base for many generations of local farmers. On the shores of Lake Sølen you will find the Fiskevollen fishing village which is the oldest inland fishing village in Norway. You will also find areas known for their relics from old settlements based on hunting and fishing.
During the tree days (two nights) you will be given the opportunity to put out and draw a net from a boat. The catch will mainly be white fish which is a fantastic basis for the most delicious dishes. You will be given the opportunity to prepare the fish by smoking it or maybe do as our forefathers did for thousands of years, in a cooking hole in the ground.
While the nets are in the water or while we are waiting to put them out you can explore the river Mistra, which is known for its big Mistra trout. You can also enjoy the silence when paddling a canoe in the beautiful Lille Sølensjø nature reserve or even challenge the big pikes with a fishing rod.
On the last day you can have a historical look back with a guided tour around the Fiskevollen fishing village (picture).
The concept includes all meals, overnight stay in a tent camp (tipi), fishing licence in the river Mistra and all local transportation.
We take reservation of min. 4 guests.
