Horse and sleigh

We offer you to go by horse and sleigh through the winter landscape. The
horse has a tremendous place in the lumbering history of Østerdalen. We use
the traditional forest worker cabins for a good meal and a sleep after our
trips with sleddogs or horses.
What about getting into a sled filled up with warm fur from sheep or reindeer and go through the woods in the winter dark with sparkling stars above and torches on the sled? The feeling you get can be is magical and therefore impossible to describe in words – you have to experience it. If you like we can combine a sled tour with a traditional meal and a good night’s sleep at a traditional mountain dairy. After dinner we will sit by the sparkling fire with candles on the table and tell you stories from ancient times. |

We can also offer you to join a traditional team of timber workers in the Norwegian woods. Experience the traditional way of timberwork with horse, axe and manual saw. There will be no engine noise, only birds singing and the breath of the horse. The cooperation between man and horse is the way to succeed with the work and the ability to raise the family at home. Even if this is hard work there will be time for a break with coffee made on the fire and a good story from your working mates, this is part of the tradition. |
